HC Deb 14 December 1949 vol 470 cc265-6W
75. Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

asked the Postmaster-General whether he has now concluded his consideration of the rules which he intends to apply to the recognition of staff associations; and what is the present position of associations which have applied for recognition and have satisfied him that they include in their membership 40 per cent. of the organised workers in a grade.

Mr. Hobson

No; this matter is still under consideration. The second part of the hon. Member's Question refers, I presume, to the Engineering Officers (Telecommunication) Association. Their claim to recognition will be further considered by my right hon. Friend in the light of all the relevant factors, including the extent of their membership. On this latter point, as my right hon. Friend has previously indicated, a check is to be made of the figures for 31st December, 1949.
