HC Deb 14 December 1949 vol 470 cc276-7W
Mr. Edgar Granville

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power if he is prepared to reconsider his refusal of an increased petrol allowance to Mr. V. J. Chapman, of Down Row, Debenham, Suffolk, in view of the fact that Mr. Chapman put his savings into his garage, but now finds he is unable to make a living owing to the fact that he has not sufficient petrol to fulfil all his orders.

Mr. Gaitskell

I am satisfied that an additional hire car is not at present required to meet public needs at Deben-ham, and in the circumstances I regret that I cannot authorise the grant of an additional petrol allowance to Mr. Chapman for this purpose.
