Mr. Sutcliffeasked the President of the Board of Trade if he will give details of actions taken by other countries to impose new restrictions or limitations on the importation of British textiles, following the devaluation of the pound sterling, and of what steps are being taken to remedy the effect of such restrictions on the textile industry in this country.
§ Mr. BottomleyRegulations in overseas countries affecting the importation of British goods are constantly changing. I am not at present aware, however, of any action taken to impose new restrictions or limitation on the importation of246W United Kingdom textiles in consequence of or following the devaluation of the pound sterling. If the hon. Member has reason to believe that there are any such new regulations in any overseas countries affecting textiles from this country, I shall be pleased to have the matter looked into.
