§ 41. Mr. Platts-Millsasked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that in routine orders recently issued to the Bicester Garrison, reference was made to a public meeting to be held at Piddington school on 29th November at which the proposed transfer of the older children to some other school was to be discussed; that at least one person from each hut or family was instructed to attend that meeting; and whether he is satisfied that this was a proper subject for inclusion in the garrison routine orders.
§ Mr. ShinwellYes. The order referred to gave notice of the meeting and advised that in the interests of their children members of families with children should attend. No one was instructed to go. The hon. Member will doubtless appreciate the responsibility of the Army for all aspects of the welfare of soldiers.
