Mr. Odeyasked the Minister of Agriculture why the Provincial Land Commissioner agreed to the use of 44 acres of good dairy farm land at Preston, East Yorkshire, for the purpose of providing playing fields for the new Hedon Preston secondary school when an alternative site was available on Hedon Race Course which would interfere much less with food production.

WilliamsThe acquisition of this land was agreed by the Provincial Land Commissioner because the alternative site on Hedon Race Course was found to be unsuitable for the purpose of a school and playing fields for the children whom it would have to serve, and no other suitable alternative site could be found.
