Colonel Stoddart-Scottasked the Minister of Health if he will hold an inquiry into the slow rate of progress of housing in the City of Bradford, where only 845 permanent houses have been completed since 1945 and where over 13,000 families are awaiting houses; and if he will consult the Minister of Labour with a view to increasing the supply of building labour in order that the people of Bradford can be adequately housed in a reasonable period.
§ Mr. BlenkinsopNo. The Ministry of Labour are already doing all they can to increase the manpower engaged on house building, and I understand that the city council propose in future to distribute their contract work over a larger number of firms.
