HC Deb 29 April 1949 vol 464 cc28-9W
Mr. H. Roberts

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give approximate details of the sum of £750 million passing annually for Estate Duty in £10,000 groups up to a figure of £100,000-£50,000 groups thereafter.

Sir S. Cripps

The £750 million is an estimate of the capital coming under charge for the current year.

A table showing the distribution of capital in ranges for the year 1946–47 appears on page 46 of the 90th Report of the Commissioners of Inland Revenue, and a similar table for the year 1947–48 will appear in the 91st Report which will be available in the near future.
