§ Mr. Glenvil HallThe number of temporary civil servants was 324,724 on 1st January, 1949, and 421,600 on 1st July, 1947. The number of additional posts expected to have been established by the end of 1950 under central schemes already agreed is 38,000. The number of additional posts to be established under departmental schemes in the same period cannot be estimated centrally.
