HL Deb 28 April 1949 vol 162 cc157-8WA
LORD METHUEN

asked His Majesty's Government whether there is any truth in the report in the Press that the maintenance depôt for military vehicles at Donnington is likely, in the near future to be transferred to the Cowley site occupied by the Metal Products Recovery Depôt, thereby causing a stream of heavy vehicles to pass through Oxford for periodical overhaul, to the detriment of the amenities of that city in general, and of the University in particular, and in spite of the praiseworthy efforts being made to solve the traffic problem in Oxford.

THE MINISTER OF CIVIL AVIATION (LORD PAKENHAM)

It is not intended to move this depôt from Donnington to Cowley.

House adjourned at twenty-five minutes past five o'clock.
