asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies why the Nigerian Government have decided to withdraw the manilla from circulation; and what will be the cost of so doing.

The manilla is being withdrawn because of its inconvenience and fluctuation in value. £335,000 was allocated for this purpose by the Government last July. The net cost of the operation is not yet known.
