HC Deb 07 April 1949 vol 463 cc205-6W
Mr. Piratin

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether, as the Annual Report of the Central Office of Information for the year 1947–48, Command Paper No. 7567, does not state who selects the lecturers sponsored by that Department and how they are selected, he will make a statement giving this information.

Mr. Glenvil Hall

Yes. The lecturers are chosen from a large number of applicants by experienced officers on the staff of the Central Office of Information. The selection is made on the basis of the experience of the applicants, their knowledge of the subjects on which they will need to speak, and their ability to deal with these subjects objectively.
