HL Deb 22 September 1948 vol 158 cc204-6WA
LORD TEVIOT

asked His Majesty's Government, whether the Ministries of Health, Food, Agriculture, Transport, Defence, and the Treasury, have been or will be consulted before the Metropolitan Water Board embark on any further expenditure to investigate whether or not the Enborne Valley Scheme is a sound and practical proposition.

LORD WALKDEN

There has been informal explanation of the broad outline of the Board's proposals to officers of the Ministries of Health, Agriculture, Town and Country Planning and Transport. The expenditure at present being incurred does not need Government sanction, and it is not possible, therefore, to say whether there will be other discussions with Government Departments before any further expenditure is incurred.

House adjourned at half past six o'clock.
