§ 15. Commander Purseyasked the Minister of Labour the trades for which training is taking place in the Government Training Centre, Hull, and the number of trainees in each trade; the number to be trained in the Rehabilitation Unit; when this unit is to start training; and whether any other training is to be carried out at the centre.
§ Mr. IsaacsThe 66 trainees in the Hull Government Training Centre are being trained in the following trades: Engineering Machine Operating, 19; Coach Body-Building, 17: Men's Hairdressing, 11; Painting and Decorating, 10; Motor Repairing, 5; Watch and Clock Repairing, 4. I expect the two last named classes to be increased by 20 in the next few weeks. The Industrial Rehabilitation Unit will open in the first week of November and will provide places for 120. The remaining space has been allocated to the Disabled Persons Employment Corporation for use as a Remploy Factory.
§ 16. Commander Purseyasked the Minister of Labour the date on which training is to commence in the Remploy Factory, Hull; the number and type of trainees to be entered; and what classes of training is to be given.
§ Mr. IsaacsThere are two Remploy Factories in Hull. At the first of these training started on 28th Jul: and work will eventually be provided for 150 severely disabled workers suffering from all types of disability except tuberculosis. The other factory will provide work for 300 tuberculous persons; training in this factory should start in November. These two factories will provide training and employment in general woodwork and furniture making, including machining, assembly and upholstery.
