HC Deb 21 September 1948 vol 456 c51W
106. Mr. H. Hynd

asked the Secretary of State for War what is the present strength of the Polish Resettlement Corps; how many are on the administrative staff of the corps; and when its work is likely to he completed.

Mr. Shinwell

The strength of the Polish Resettlement Corps administered by my Department was approximately 22,000 at the beginning of this month. Of this total approximately 8,000 were employed on administrative duties. It is not yet possible to say when the work of the corps will be completed, as this will largely depend on how quickly the remaining members of it can be placed in civilian employment in this country, or repatriated or settled in other countries.
