HC Deb 21 September 1948 vol 456 c92W
Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Food if he is aware that changes in the milk ration are announced on the B.B.C. on Wednesday evenings, to take effect on the following Sunday; that dairy managers cannot give the details of the new milk allocation to the roundsmen until Saturday; that the roundsmen often have to spend six hours on the Saturday preparing their individual allocations for the following day; that for this reason there is no guarantee that the individual allocations will always be accurate; and if he will consider allowing a longer period between the announcement being made and the new allocation coming into effect.

Mr. Strachey

I always endeavour to give the longest possible notice of changes in the milk allowances and I will certainly bear in mind what my hon. Friend says.
