Mr. Lewisasked the Minister of Food if he is aware that changes in the milk ration are announced on the B.B.C. on Wednesday evenings, to take effect on the following Sunday; that dairy managers cannot give the details of the new milk allocation to the roundsmen until Saturday; that the roundsmen often have to spend six hours on the Saturday preparing their individual allocations for the following day; that for this reason there is no guarantee that the individual allocations will always be accurate; and if he will consider allowing a longer period between the announcement being made and the new allocation coming into effect.
§ Mr. StracheyI always endeavour to give the longest possible notice of changes in the milk allowances and I will certainly bear in mind what my hon. Friend says.
