§ 119. Mr. G. Jegerasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to what extent German prisoners of war who have been allowed to remain in Britain as civilians were given instructions in democracy and passed through de-Nazification tests before being given civilian status.
§ Mr. MayhewAll German prisoners of war in this country had full opportunity before release to take part in the various courses and other re-educational activities which were organised for all prisoner of war camps. No specific additional instruction was arranged for those who later volunteered and have been allowed to remain here for civilian employment. As regards the second part of the question, no individuals were permitted to remain who came within the categories of persons or organisations declared criminal by the Nürnberg International Military Tribunal or who were held to constitute a danger to military security.
