HC Deb 21 September 1948 vol 456 c83W
Mr. J. Morrison

asked the Lord President of the Council what are the salary and expense allowance of the Director-General of the 1951 Festival of Britain; what is the size of his staff; and what are their total emoluments.

Mr. H. Morrison

As regards the first part of the Question, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave yesterday to the hon. Member for Kingston-upon-Thames (Mr. Boyd-Carpenter). The staff of the Festival of Britain on 31st August last amounted to 24, including typing grades and messengers, and the cost of this staff in a full year would be £14,000. A Supplementary Estimate will be presented to Parliament in due course.
