Mr. Gammansasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if he is aware that at the "Raising the Standard Exhibition" at Charing Cross Underground Station by the Central Office of Information, most of the exhibits of flour, cigarettes, pipe tobacco and rum, bear the label of the Co-operative Wholesale Society; and what is the justification for using public money to advertise the wares of any particular trader, co-operative or otherwise.

I am aware that this exhibition contained a photograph of foodstuffs which bore Cooperative Wholesale Society labels, as well as exhibits bearing the names of other manufacturers. There was no intention of advertising any firm, and, as soon as attention was called to the matter, the markings were, so far as possible, erased.
