HC Deb 21 September 1948 vol 456 c71W
Mr. Piratin

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the tonnage and value of the cereals delivered by the Soviet Union from 1st February to the latest available date, arising from the Trade Agreement; and what is the value of the contracts placed by the Soviet Union with manufacturers arising from the same agreement.

Mr. Bottomley

Imports of coarse grain under the Anglo-Russian Trade Agreement of December last between the 1st February and 31st August were 525,627 tons with a c.i.f. value of £16,735,207. Tenders for over 95 per cent. of the capital goods covered by the Trade Agreement have been submitted by manufacturers to the Soviet Trade Delegation; orders have been placed for just over £2 million.
