HC Deb 20 September 1948 vol 456 c11W
23. Mr. Piratin

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what does he anticipate to be the proportion of ex officio members of the electoral colleges for the Sudanese elections compared with the delegate members of those bodies.

Mr. Mayhew

A precise answer is not possible until the electoral rolls have been completed. It appears probable, however, that there will be approximately twice as many delegated members asex officio members of the electoral colleges.

Mr. Piratin

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what proportion of the Sudanese electorate is likely to be disfranchised as a result of the operation of the property qualifications defined in Sections I (f) and 2 (b) (vi) of Part III of the Second Schedule of the Ordinance of 19th June, 1948.

Mr. Mayhew

The proportion of the Sudanese population who will be enfranchised as a result of the Ordinance cannot be accurately estimated at present as the electoral rolls are still being worked out.
