HC Deb 20 September 1948 vol 456 c27W
116. Mr. R. S. Hudson

asked the Minister of Transport how long the s.s. "Almanzora" has been anchored in Cowes Roads; what are the total number of men employed on board her; their weekly cost in wages; the quantity and cost per week of fuel consumed; and the total cost per month of keeping her there.

Mr. Barnes

This ship has been at anchorage in Cowes Roads since 8th March last while the question of possible future employment for her has been under examination. Various alternatives have been considered but I regret that the results so far have been negative. There are 41 men employed in the ship at a weekly cost in wages of £330. She uses 95 tons of oil fuel per week, costing £600. The total monthly expenditure is £4,300.
