§ Mr. Granville Sharpasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what benefits have so far resulted from the appointment of the Scrap Co-ordinating Officer in Germany; and to what extent deliveries of scrap to German ports have been increased since his appointment.
§ Mr. MayhewThe appointment of the Scrap Co-ordinating Officer in the British zone of Germany has brought about a close co-ordination of the various sections within the Control Commission for Germany engaged in the recovery and export of ferrous scrap from disarmament and commercial sources. In reply to the second part of the question, there have been substantial increases in the deliveries of scrap to German ports in the two months since the appointment was made, i.e., July and August, as compared with the deliveries previously made in any one month.
