HC Deb 20 September 1948 vol 456 c27W
115. Lieut.-Commander Hutchison

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will make a statement on the restoration of through passenger train services between Edinburgh and London via the former West Coast route.

Mr. Barnes

I am informed by the British Transport Commission that they have considered the provision of through passenger services between Edinburgh and London by the West Coast route but feel this would give no advantage over the existing temporary service by the East Coast route. Moreover, the intermediate towns on the latter route would lose their existing services.
