HC Deb 09 November 1948 vol 457 c165W
Sir I. Fraser

asked the Minister of Town and Country Planning if he is aware of the widespread popular objection to the proposal to extend a military bridging camp now occupying a few acres on the banks of the River Lune, near Halton, by acquiring a much larger area, and if he will give an assurance that the Inter-Departmental Committee on Services Land Requirements will give full weight to these objections and hold a public inquiry.

Mr. Silkin

Objections to this requirement of the War Department are now under consideration by the Inter-Departmental Committee, and full weight will be given to them. If any substantial objections on grounds of the public interest cannot be resolved, a public local inquiry will be held.
