Lieut.-Commander Hutchisonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will circulate a statement in the Official Report showing the number of new houses which each county council in Scotland will be permitted to erect in 1949.
§ Mr. WoodburnCounty councils will be encouraged to complete during 1949 as many as possible of the large number of houses now under construction in their districts. The extent to which they can bring additional houses under construction must depend on the progress made with their existing programmes. No statement such as the hon. Member describes can therefore be prepared.
