§ Mr. Prescottasked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations whether he is aware of the apprehension which exists among former Indian Army and R.I.N. officers with regard to their rights as pensioners; whether the letter of 21st September addressed to the Prime 109W Minister by the Officers' Pension Society, a copy of which was forwarded to him, has been considered by his Department; and whether he will make a statement generally on the present position and the Government's proposals.
§ Mr. P. Noel-BakerI have received representations from certain associations, including the Officers' Pensions Society, about the pension rights of officers of the Indian Services. I hope to reply to these representations very shortly. The present position of these pensioners was explained by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer in his statement to the House on 15th July, 1948, on the Indian Sterling Balances.
