§ Sir S. CrippsThe Central Economic Planning Staff and the Economic Section of the Cabinet Offices, in association with departmental staffs, have been working on this problem for the past year. As was explained in the Economic Survey, 1948, however, it was not possible to determine even the main features of long-term plans until the nature and size of the European Recovery Programme were known more accurately. For this reason, while it is188W proposed to publish the general nature of our long-term plans, I cannot at present give any indication when that will be.
