HL Deb 05 May 1948 vol 155 cc679-80WA
LORD BARNBY

asked His Majesty's Government whether, in defence of the security of the travelling public, they can now give indication of plans to terminate trains running with unclosed entrance doors on the Underground branch of the Government's transportation system.

LORD WALKDEN

Under Section 3 of the Transport Act, 1947, the duty is imposed on the British Transport Commission to pay due regard to safety of operation of the services for which they are responsible, and any measures which they consider necessary to this end are, therefore, primarily matters for their decision. I will see that the noble Lord's question is brought to the notice of the Commission.

House adjourned at two minutes past five o'clock.
