HL Deb 04 May 1948 vol 155 c636WA
LORD NAPIER

asked His Majesty's Government when a licence will be granted, and, if not, why not, for the renovation of the Boston Memorial Hall, Ettrick, because: (a) this hall is situated 18 miles from its nearest town; (b) it is the only social centre available to this hill farming community; (c) the cost to the State is little, since a Government grant was offered, but declined; and (d) His Majesty's Secretary of State for Scotland has declared that this hall was receiving exceptional treatment by his Department.

LORD HENDERSON

A licence for the renovation of the Boston Memorial Hall, Ettrick, has been issued.

House adjourned at twelve minutes past four o'clock.
