HC Deb 04 May 1948 vol 450 c115W
79. Lieut.-Colonel Corbett

asked the President of the Board of Trade what steps are being taken to remedy the serious shortage of paper sacks.

Mr. Bottomley

Paper sacks are made from kraft paper, which is short. We are importing as much as we can of kraft pulp and of sack kraft paper but there are other important uses for which we must also provide paper of this type. I hope that some improvement will be possible in the next licensing period which begins in July.
