§ Mr. SteeleIt is estimated that the cost of granting a family allowance of 5s. a week in respect of every first (or only) child would be about £75 million a year at present. This figure allows for the consequential saving in the cost of benefits under the National Insurance Act and the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act.
