§ 72. Mr. Bramallasked the Minister of Food whether he is aware of the shortage of small dried fruits in the shops in the borough of Bexley; and whether he can hold out any hope of an improvement in this situation.
§ Dr. SummerskillOur supplies of dried fruit are insufficient to meet consumer demand, and this affects equally all parts of the country. We are, however, buying the maximum supplies we can afford in the areas open to us, and will continue to do so. The allocation made on 29th February, which is now reaching the shops, included a small proportion of currants for distribution in the Bexley area.
