37. Mrs. Patonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is to happen on 1st April to those N.F.S. men who in 1946 were given permanent administrative appointments, and who as yet have not received appointments under the new fire service authorities.
§ Mr. EdeIn some cases arrangements are being made for their retention in temporary Government employment and, where this is not practicable, they will be given gratuities of two months' pay. In the meantime every effort is being and will continue to be made by the Home Office, in collaboration with the local authority associations, to secure their absorption in permanent local government posts either before or after 1st April.
