77. Mr. Vaneasked the President of the Board of Trade whether it is the policy of His Majesty's Government to build new factories in areas such as South-West Durham, in the several villages where there is unemployment or to concentrate them in central trading estates.
§ Mr. BelcherThere is no set rule. In general, the policy has been to concentrate factories on trading estates at focal points within reasonable daily travelling distance of the main centres of population, but factories have also been erected on individual sites in. localities where the employment need is smaller and cannot be met otherwise.
