STANDARD BENEFIT RATES UNDER THE NATIONAL INSURANCE ACT, 1946, WITH COMPARABLE RATES UNDER THE EXISTING SCHEMES.
(1) Weekly rates of benefit.

man without dependants 26s. 24s. (Agriculture, 22s.)
man with wife and child 49s. 6d. 45s. (Agriculture, 41s.)

Sickness (first 6 months)—
man without dependants 26s. 18s. Additional Benefits paid by some Approved Societies.

single woman 26s. 18s.
married woman (ordinary rate) 16s. 8s.

man without dependants 26s. 10s. 6d.

Maternity £4 £2 (plus an extra £2 for a married woman who is insured).

ordinary rate £20 None
*10s. if married to insured man before 5th July, 1948; 26s. if incapable of self-support by reason of infirmity.
† The new rates are only paid from retirement to men aged 65–70 and women aged 60–65, but are increased for work after age 65 (men) 60 (women).
