HC Deb 04 March 1948 vol 448 c80W
13. Mr. Haire

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether it is proposed to import further foreign furniture when the present £6 million limit is reached.

Mr. H. Wilson

The current programme of furniture imports is being brought to an end even before the limit of £6 million originally approved is reached. We may, however, find it desirable in the course of our trading relationships to permit some imports of furniture, particularly if by so doing we can maintain or improve our imports of essential goods.
