asked the Minister of Defence (1) what proportion of the 940,000 troops estimated to be under arms in March, 1948, are expected to be serving overseas;

(2) what proportion of the 716,000 troops estimated to be under arms in March, 1949, are expected to be serving overseas.

In each case about 30 per cent. of the total forces will be serving overseas.
