asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the progress made by the Scottish Advisory Council on Education in their report on Scottish library questions; and when this report will be published.

I understand that the Advisory Council on Education has now completed the taking of evidence relating to the comprehensive remit given to them on library questions, but it is not possible at this stage to say when their report will be submitted to me.

Estimates of the numbers of insured persons in employment are not available for any date later than July, 1947. The following table shows the approximate numbers of insured persons in employment in the area of the Don-caster Employment Exchange at that date, and the numbers registered at that Exchange as unemployed at 12th January, 1948.
