HC Deb 02 March 1948 vol 448 cc61-2W
Mr. Hurd

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies, how much of the 1946 crop of groundnuts still remains in Nigeria; and when he expects that shipment will be completed.

Mr. Rees-Williams

On 19th February there were still in Nigeria 47,500 tons of groundnuts from the production of the crop year ending in October, 1947, of which 14,000 tons were at port. I expect shipment to be completed by the end of April. Some 20,000 tons of the new crop now being collected have already been shipped.
