§ 6. Mr. Spenceasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many applications for licences by individual owners or occupiers to build houses in rural areas have been made to his Department during the last year; and how many have been granted.
§ Mr. T. FraserOnly since 1st November, 1947, has the approval of the Department of Health been necessary for such applications. Between that date and 31st May, 1948, 454 applications were forwarded by county councils. Of these, 131 have been approved, 225 have been deferred, and 98 are under consideration. In addition 66 applications have been approved for the replacement of houses on farms under the Housing (Agricultural Population) (Scotland) Act, 1938.
