§ 85. Mr. G. Thomasasked the Minister of Education the number of infants' teachers now in training in Welsh training colleges or Welsh University training departments; the estimated shortage of infants' teachers in Wales; and the number of students expected to qualify for this work this year.
§ Mr. TomlinsonAbout 260 of the students now at training colleges, including emergency colleges, in Wales are taking courses preparing them mainly for the teaching of infants. The total number of women teachers employed in Wales at present exceeds the total of the approved establishments. The number of teachers being trained for infant work will be sufficient to enable vacancies for teachers of infant classes to be filled in80W the next few years. The number of students expected to complete such training courses this year is about 160.
