§ Mr. EdeThe only figures available for 1948 are the gross figures up to the end of March, 1948, for the total number of offences of sacrilege, burglary, housebreaking, shopbreaking, attempted housebreaking and shopbreaking, entering with intent to commit felony, and possession of housebreaking tools. In January there were 11,626 such offences known to the police in England and Wales, in February 10,112 and in March 10,323. The figures for 1947 are:—
