§ Sir S. CrippsThe Economic Information Unit exists to advise upon and assist in the process of making known to the public—with special concern for the needs of workers in industry—both the facts of the economic situation and the measures the Government are taking to deal with it. The object of the Guildhall meeting was to explain and emphasise the part women can play in national economic recovery and ask for the establishment of local recovery committees. Invitations were extended to Lady Mayoresses, Mayoresses, Lady Provosts, women representatives of urban district councils and women's voluntary organisations.
