§ Mr. Granvilleasked the Minister of Works if he will now consider the suggestion that solid fuel cookers and other similar appliances should be quantity produced and installed in new houses being built by local authorities; and if he will consider making these installations part of the housing subsidy.
§ Mr. BevanI have been asked to reply. Arrangements have been made for increased production and where local authorities propose to use solid fuel cookers, they are given every encouragement to instal the modern type in new houses. As to the last part of the question the housing subsidy is paid in respect of the whole house and not for particular installations.
