§ Mr. Cobbasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that the demand for medical, technical, scientific and learned publications from the U.S.A. is five or six times as great in value as in 1938–39; and whether, in view of the great arrears in the way of scientific and technical education which have to be overcome following the war and the urgent need for giving all possible assistance to science and technology in this country, he will take early steps to facilitate the entry of such books into this country.
