§ Mr. G. Robertsasked the Minister of Labour what was the number of persons registered as unemployed at the local offices of his Department in Caernarvon-shire on the last convenient date.
264Wworkers in the period May, 1946, to January, 1948, was 28,226; but there is no record of the number of workers, in respect of whom permits have been issued, who have actually come to this country. I understand that all foreigners arriving from abroad are given by the Immigration Officer a pamphlet, printed in English, which explains, amongst other things what they should do to obtain ration books, etc. I have no information on the third and last parts of the question.
