§ Mr. GaitskellAllocations of American coal to European countries for the first quarter of 1948 amounted to 9 million tons. Allocations for the second quarter will shortly be recommended by the Coal Committee of the Economic Committee 241W for Europe, on which this country is represented by an officer of my Department. These allocations take into account anticipated imports from the United Kingdom and other supplying countries.
