§ 101. Sir S. Reedasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will give an assurance that the supply of soda ash is sufficient to meet the needs of the glass container industry of Great Britain without importation from Belgium and Czechoslovakia.
§ Mr. BottomleyUrgent steps are being taken to increase the production of soda ash and it has recently been possible to make a small increase in the allocation to the glass container industry, but their requirements cannot be met in full for some time to come and in the meantime, it will be necessary to continue to supplement home supplies of containers by imports.
