§ 99. Mr. Collinsasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that, owing to the impossibility of disposing of quantities of salvaged tins and rubber, the organisation of salvage drives in Wellington[...]Somerset, is proving increasingly difficult; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. BottomleyI understand that the Wellington (Somerset) Urban District Council accumulated quantities of tin cans and scrap rubber some time after being officially advised that the continued separate collection of these materials, which generally had low salvage value, 207W was no longer required of local authorities. Apparently the scrap rubber which the council are now holding is not suitable for re-use. I should like again to emphasise the recent appeals which I have made to local authorities and to the public to take every possible step to salvage waste paper.
