§ 121. Mr. Jannerasked the Minister of Transport how many toll roads and toll bridges have been taken over by the Railway Transport Commission; and what policy is to be adopted with regard to those toll roads and bridges.
§ Mr. BarnesSix toll bridges and two toll roads. I intend to discuss with the Commission the question of freeing two bridges which are on trunk routes; as regards the remainder, the local authorities concerned have power to acquire the toll rights and, as I informed them in a Circular dated 19th March, 1947, I am prepared to consider applications for grants from the Road Fund towards the cost of freeing those on classified roads.
